To provide a water-absorbing sheet capable of evenly spreading water all over the surface of a mat and evenly retaining water all over the surface of a mat when again supplying water after consumption of water contained in a mat in continuous use.
SOLUTION: This water-absorbing sheet is made of a thermoplastic polyester fiber. The thermoplastic polyester fiber is stuck with a water absorption finishing agent which hardly melts into water which the water-absorbing sheet absorbs. The water-absorbing sheet is such that a water absorption height by Byreck method is 70 mm or more, the retention of a water absorption height by Byreck method after 10 times repeat of soaking-drying is 75% or more and the retention of a water absorption height after 20 times repeat is 60% or more.
