A wick diffuser employing a cellulosic based wick is disclosed. The wick diffuser includes a base from which first and second arcuate panels upwardly and outwardly extend and flanking a center cellulosic wick. The wick is substantially planar in shape and upwardly extends from a container of volatile organic compound housed within the base. The base may be manufactured from a polymeric material or include a polymeric insert provided within a wooden surround.
