A biometric authentication device according to the present invention acquires pulse wave information indicating a pulse wave of a person, and determines whether or not the amplitude of a pulse wave signal referenced from the pulse wave information is larger than a predetermined threshold value. When the amplitude of the pulse wave signal is larger than the predetermined threshold value, biometric authentication is performed using the fingerprint information of the person.
