The method comprises receiving electrical signals from at least two sensors, for example in-ear electrodes mounted on the head. Combining a plurality of cardiac cycles e.g. 904a-c derives a composite electrocardiogram 908, having shape and timing information for each of the P-, Q-, R-, S- and T-waves. The method may comprise determining R-wave locations e.g. 902a-c such as by finding maxima positions and aligning multiple beat samples based on the R-wave peak in for example a window from 250ms before to 400ms after the R-peak, to resolve the other waves. An additional sensor e.g. mechanical, optical or acoustic for determining the window or de-noising the ECG. Comparison with template patterns may determine a known cardiovascular state e.g. infarction, fibrillation or tachycardia. The invention may improve signal-to-noise ratio while maintaining the convenience of only using head electrodes, where a body e.g. right arm electrode might require a connecting cable.L'invention concerne un dispositif et un procédé d'obtention d'un électrocardiogramme pour un sujet.
