PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and means to control the humidity of breathable gas used in all forms of artificial respiratory apparatus ventilation systems including bi-directional therapy and treatment for sleep disordered breathing (SDB) diseases and for various other respiratory disorders and diseases.SOLUTION: A humidifier 14 for humidifying the flow of a breathable gas to supply to a patient comprises: a chamber 16 configured to contain the flow of gas； a water tub 20 configured to contain supply water and to be inserted into the chamber 16； a lid 18 provided on the chamber 16 and movable between an open position and a close position； and a seal 19 provided at the lid 18 and configured to seal the chamber 16 such that the flow of gas is able to pressurize the chamber 16. The chamber 16 comprises a heating plate configured to heat the supply water contained in the water tub.
