The invention relates to a handheld analysis device, comprising a mechanicalassembly, which comprises a transport unit (9) for consumable analyticalelements(4, 5), a display unit (7), a sensor (6) for analyzing a body fluid sampleobtained by alancet prick, a memory for storing a series of measurement results, a firstactuatingelement (13), the actuation of which transfers the device (1) into a firstactive state,activates the mechanical assembly and prepares a measurement, wherein in thefirstactive state a measurement is started by the actuation of one of the actuatingelements (13, 15, 16, 17), and a second actuating element (15), the actuationofwhich transfers the device (1) into a second active state. In the deviceaccording tothe invention, the display unit (7) is switched on by the actuation of thesecondactuating element (15), without activating the mechanical assembly.
