A method for modifying Parkinsons disease by periodically administering a pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of rasagiline or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of rasagiline to the patient, thereby modifying the disease. The method includes reducing the rate of progression delaying the need for symptomatic anti-Parkinsonian therapy reducing the risk of a Parkinsons disease patient requiring symptomatic anti-Parkinsonian therapy and reducing the functional decline.La présente invention concerne un procédé de modification de lévolution de la maladie de Parkinson grâce à ladministration périodique dune composition pharmaceutique renfermant une quantité thérapeutiquement efficace de rasagiline ou dun sel, pharmaceutiquement acceptable, de celle-ci au patient, avec pour résultat une modification de lévolution de la maladie. Grâce à ce procédé, la vitesse de progression est ralentie le besoin pour un traitement anti-parkinsonien symptomatique est retardé le risque pour un patient atteint de la maladie de Parkinson davoir besoin dun traitement anti-parkinsonien symptomatique est réduit et le déclin fonctionnel est limité.
