PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surfactant composition capable of giving, when used for a cleaning agent for hair, softness in bubbles, a finger passing property of hair and softness during washing, excellent slipperiness and a lasting feeling thereof, softness and a coated feeling during rinsing, and a moist feeling and uniformity after drying, and of giving, when used for a cleaning agent for skin, an excellent moist feeling after drying, and to provide a cleansing method.SOLUTION: A surfactant composition comprises a cellulose ether (A) containing a cationic group and a surfactant (B).
