PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elongated insertion instrument having a coil pipe with a proximal end portion whose axial movements can be easily restricted.SOLUTION: An insertion instrument 10 includes a bendable bending tube 34, an elongated angle wire 60a, a coil pipe 62a, and an engaging mechanism 64 for engaging the coil pipe. The coil pipe 62a is wound with a wire in the shape of a coil with the closely wound wire, and the angle wire 60a is inserted into the coil pipe to be movable in an axial direction. An proximal end portion of the coil pipe 62a has a deformed portion 74 having an enlarged diameter portion where an outer diameter is enlarged toward a proximal end side beyond a distal end portion of the coil pipe while keeping a state in which the adjacent wires are mutually brought into contact.
