PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To activate or denaturalize a substance by using terahertz waves.SOLUTION: A fluctuating electric field or a fluctuating potential is applied to a radiator consisting mainly of copper, metal, semimetal, a semiconductor, or ceramics. The substance is activated or denaturalized by directly irradiating the substance or indirectly irradiating the image of the substance with incoherent terahertz waves included in wavelengths of 3-1,000 &mum generated secondarily in the fluctuating potential or the fluctuating electric field and the radiation body.
