To provide a cannula securing assembly for selectively engaging and disengaging a cannula in a surgical system.SOLUTION: A cannula securing assembly (300) comprises: a housing (502) that includes at least one aperture (602) to receive a portion (410) of a cannula (302)； and a locking plate (504) including at least one aperture (516) which engages a portion of the cannula received in the at least one aperture of the housing. The locking plate further includes releasing means (512) at one end thereof, the releasing means being configured to be exposed on an exterior surface of the housing. The cannula securing assembly further comprises compression means (508) affixed to a slot (520) on an interior surface of the housing to engage the locking plate.
