A method for the preparation of an at least partly film-coated calcium-containing compound, wherein the calcium-containing compound is in the form of particles and/or crystals, the method comprising applying a coating composition comprising i) one or more water-soluble substances selected from the group consisting of polyols and carbohydrates and ii) one or more polymeric substances selected from the group consisting of povidones and copovidone to the calcium-containing compound, and the water-soluble substance and the polymeric substance is dispersed or dissolved in a solvent.
