The present invention relates to a medical device (1) used for generating a temporary pneumoperitoneum. The medical device comprises a generally dome-shaped body (3) having a vacuum port (9) and a frustoconical port (11), the vacuum port comprising a lower side (7) of the dome-shaped body and a dome-shaped body. A fluid passage is provided between the upper side (5) of the plate. The frustoconical port is arranged to receive one or more pieces of the medical device through the port. A plug (13) is preferably inserted into the frustoconical port to close it and the entire dome-shaped body of the medical device is sealed except for the vacuum port. The configuration of the medical device makes the movement of the medical device therethrough more flexible and provides a quicker and easier use of the medical device used to generate a temporary pneumoperitoneum.
