Substituted 2-amino-4-[4-amino-phenylimino]-cyclohexa-2,5-dienone compounds (I) are new. Substituted 2-amino-4-[4-amino-phenylimino]-cyclohexa-2,5-dienone compounds of formula (I) and their organic or inorganic acid or basic salts, or their tautomers, optical isomers, geometrical isomers and/or their solvates, are new. R : linear or branched 1-4C-alkyl (optionally substituted by one or more hydroxy or imidazolium, An ->；) or 1-4C-alkoxy； An ->；anion or its mixture； R1, R2 : H or 2-6C-alkyl (optionally substituted by one or more hydroxy)； R3, R5 : 1-6C-alkyl, halo, -C(=O)-CH 3, 1-6C-alkoxy (preferably methoxy, ethoxy or tert-butoxy), -C(=O)-OH or -S(=O) 2OH； R4 : H, 1-6C-alkyl, halo, -C(=O)-CH 3, 2-6C-alkoxy, -C(=O)-OH or -S(=O) 2OH； and n : 0-4. Independent claims are included for: (1) substituted 2-amino-4-(4-amino-phenylamino)-phenol compounds of formula (II) and their organic or inorganic acid or basic salts, or their tautomers, optical isomers, geometrical isomers and/or their solvates； (2) a composition comprising (I) in a medium, or (II) and optionally at least one oxidizing agent in a medium； (3) a method for coloring keratinous fibers, preferably human keratinous fibers such as hair, comprising either applying a composition comprising (I) in a medium on the fibers for a sufficient time to obtain desired coloration, or applying a composition comprising (I) in a medium free from oxidizing agents on the hair and a composition comprising one or more oxidizing agents on the fibers, or applying a composition comprising (II) in the presence of the oxidizing agents on the hair, and rinsing the fibers, optionally washing the fibers with shampoo, rinsed again and dried or left to dry the resulting fibers； and (4) multicompartment device or a kit comprising a first compartment containing a composition comprising (I) or (II), and a second compartment comprising the oxidizing agents.
