Peptide hydrolyzates (I) enriched in bioactive peptide capable of enhancing the function of epidermal barrier, where the bioactive peptide contains 3-5 amino acids comprising at least one glycine residue, and lysine residue, are new. An independent claim is included for a cosmetic composition or pharmaceutical composition comprising the peptide hydrolyzates in a quantity of 0.0001-20 wt.%, preferably 0.05-5 wt.% of the cosmetic composition, as active ingredient able to strengthen the barrier function of the epidermis, in a medium. ACTIVITY : Dermatological. MECHANISM OF ACTION : 3-Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG COA) reductase activator.
