Further the invention relates to the development of N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidinone 5-hydroperoxide as an efficient reagent for epoxidation of activated olefins in presence of bases such as CS2CO3 or K2CO3. The developed methodology has short reaction time, exhibits excellent diastereoselectivity in systems having allylic hydroxyl or -NH groups. discriminates hetero-atoms like nitrogen and sulfur from oxidation and provides high yields.<；/p>；
