The present invention relates to topical pharmaceutical compositions comprising flurbiprofen or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and methyl salicylate. More specifically, the invention relates to topical pharmaceutical compositions of flurbiprofen and methyl salicylate characterized in that said composition comprises dimethyl sulfoxide and one or more gelling agent. Furthermore, the invention relates to process for preparing the said topical pharmaceutical compositions and its use for the treatment of pain and inflammatory symptoms associated with muscle-skeletol system, joint and soft-tissue disorders.
