A method for segmenting an object of interest (which may be a liver object) in an input image is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: (a) segmenting the points in a region of interest in the input image into a first and second group of points using predetermined intensity threshold values (b) identifying a first set of small connected components formed by points in the first group of points and transferring the points in the first set of small connected components to the second group of points (c) identifying a second set of small connected components formed by points in the second group of points and transferring the points in the second set of small connected components to the first group of points and (d) forming the segmented object of interest using the first group of points.La présente invention se rapporte à un procédé adapté pour segmenter un objet dintérêt dans une image (lobjet pouvant être un foie par exemple). Le procédé selon linvention comprend les étapes consistant : (a) à segmenter les points dans une zone dintérêt de limage entrée en des premier et second groupes de points au moyen de valeurs de seuil dintensité prédéterminées (b) à identifier un premier ensemble de petits éléments connectés formés par des points dans le premier groupe de points, et à transférer les points dans le premier ensemble de petits éléments connectés vers le second groupe de points (c) à identifier un second ensemble de petits éléments connectés formés par des points dans le second groupe de points, et à transférer les points dans le second ensemble de petits éléments connectés vers le premier groupe de points et (d) à former lobjet dintérêt segmenté au moyen du premier groupe de points.
