An apparatus 1 for the ultrasonic cutting of an eyelet in a catheter tube comprising a mandrel 10 to support a catheter tube X, and at least one ultrasonic horn 20, 21 to cut an eyelet in a tube on the mandrel. The invention also relates to a method for cutting an eyelet in a catheter tube. The apparatus will preferably have a means of removing the waste material via the means of a vacuum.
