The present invention relates to a composition for protecting skin against UV lights and improving wrinkles comprising a Polygonum viscoferum extract. The composition comprising the Polygonum viscoferum extract: has an excellent free radical scavenging activity； inhibits apoptosis of dermal fibroblasts caused by ultraviolet rays； inhibits secretion of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) and expression of MMPs； and has an elastase inhibitory activity. Therefore, the composition of the present invention can protect skin against UV lights, and treat or prevent wrinkle, thereby being able to be utilized in biopharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.본 발명은 끈끈이여뀌 추출물을 포함하는 광노화 방지 및 피부주름개선용 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 끈끈이여뀌 추출물을 포함하는 조성물은 자유라디칼 소거 활성 효과가 뛰어나고, 자외선으로 인한 진피 섬유아세포의 사멸을 억제하며, 콜라겐 분해 효소-1(MMP-1, matrix metalloproteinase-1)의 분비와 MMPs의 발현을 억제하고, 엘라스타제의 저해 활성을 가진다. 따라서 본 발명의 조성물을 이용하면, 광노화 억제 및 주름형성을 치료 또는 예방할 수 있으므로, 생물의약 및 화장품 산업에서 활용될 수 있다.
