An active principle for use in prevention or treatment of bacteria-induced infection and disease, wherein the active principle comprises a carrier which exhibits a plurality of a scavenger structure which is capable of interacting with bacteria and reducing its growth and/or adhesion to a surface, said scavenger structure comprising a nucleophilic centre complying with the formula X1(-R''-)(-R')mHn (formula I) where a) X1 is a single-bonded heteroatom selected amongst N, O and S and exhibits a free electron pair, b) m is 0 or 1 and n is 1 or 2, c) -R"- is a bivalent organic group providing attachment to the carrier via one of its free valences and to X1 at the other free valence, and d) R'- is a monovalent organic group attached to the X1 via its free valence.L'invention porte sur un principe actif destiné à être utilisé dans la prévention ou le traitement d'une infection et d'une maladie induites par des bactéries, lequel principe actif comprend un support qui présente plusieurs unités d'une structure de piégeage qui peut interagir avec les bactéries et réduire leur croissance et/ou leur adhésion à une surface, ladite structure de piégeage comprenant un centre nucléophile répondant à la formule X1(-R''-)(-R')mHn (formule I) où a) X1 représente un hétéroatome à liaison unique sélectionné parmi N, O et S et présente une paire d'électrons libres, b) m représente 0 ou 1 et n représente 1 ou 2, c) -R"-représente un groupe organique bivalent assurant la fixation au support par le biais d'une de ses valences libres et à X1 à l'autre valence libre, et d) R'- représente un un groupe organique monovalent fixé à X1 par le biais de sa valence libre.
