A lid for a medical waste collection canister is described. The lid includes a head portion and a cylindrical portion. The head portion has a plurality of suction ports and a vacuum port disposed therein. Each of the plurality of suction ports and the vacuum port comprise a connector at least partially circumscribing the respective port and extending away from a first side of the head portion. The cylindrical portion is coupled to and extends away from a second side of the head portion that is disposed opposite the first side of the head portion. The cylindrical portion defines an interior chamber that is in fluidic communication with the plurality of suction ports and the vacuum port.
