PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a breathing assisting device used for a patient who cannot breathe naturally or is unsuitable for it regardless of wearing a respirator, and a method for stabilizing irregular aspiration occurring in aspiration of outside air.SOLUTION: This breathing assisting device 1 includes at least one auxiliary passage 8 which is tubular, forms a main passage 5 and is connected to a breathing enabling gas source 25. The device further includes: a deflecting means 36 for deflecting a volume part of breathing enabling gas for the auxiliary passage 8 before entering the auxiliary passage 8 and an aspiration means 38 which aspirates ambient air and is driven by the deflected breathing enabling gas part.
