PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus for an animal capable of reconstructing a tomographic image whose cross section in a state that an animal is standing with four legs can be easily grasped.SOLUTION: An MR imaging device 1 for an animal includes: an input device 22 for inputting subject information including at least a body position of a subject A which is an animal and an imaging condition including at least a cross section type imaging means 9 for generating a nuclear magnetic-resonance signal by the imaging condition, and detecting the nuclear magnetic-resonance signal a control part 6 for controlling the imaging means 9 and an image reconstruction processing part 23 for reconstructing the image from the detected nuclear magnetic-resonance signal.
