The present invention discloses a method for manufacturing and programming a power supplyable ophthalmic lens having a programmable media insert. In some embodiments, the media insert may be programmable to allow additional customization of the powered eye lens. The media insert can be programmed before or during the manufacturing process. Alternatively, the media insert can be programmed after the component has been sealed, where programming can occur wirelessly.
