PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blood purifying apparatus for reliably and automatically discriminating whether or not a blood purifying means to be used in treatment is filled beforehand with a filling fluid, and reliably and smoothly performing priming corresponding to the discriminated types, and to provide a method for discriminating the blood purifying means thereof.
SOLUTION: A priming liquid filling process is performed, in which a priming liquid is supplied to blood circuits and fill the blood circuits with the liquid. The blood purifying apparatus includes a discriminating means 10 for allowing a dialyzer 3 to discriminate whether or not a blood flow passage and a dialysis liquid passage are filled beforehand with the filling fluid in a state where the distal end of an artery side blood circuit 1 and the distal end of a vein side blood circuit 2 are connected and communicated each other before the priming fluid filling process.
