PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a lens cap (thin cap) for dirt prevention cover which reduces distortion of a light image by thinning wall thickness of the lens cap, makes optical properties of individual lens caps uniform at the same time, and considerably reduces forming costs.
SOLUTION: A thin lens cap 11 is obtained via the following processes: a process for performing injection molding of a dummy male mold 15 provided with a boss 20 matching the inside shape of a cylindrical lens cap 11 with a bottom a process for loading the obtained dummy male mold 15 inside a molding metallic die which molds the lens cap 11 to perform mold clamping a process for injecting molten resin in a mold space S between the dummy male mold 15 and the molding metallic die to mold a cap pre-step body 16 a process for releasing the cap pre-step body 16 and the dummy male mold 15 from the molding metallic die at the same time and obtaining a compound mold product 17 and a process for cutting prescribed parts of the compound mold product 17.
