PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a novel application of an extract in order to utilize the extract from Angelica shikokiana Makino effectively, and to propose reviewing Angelica shikokiana Makino as a raw material which produces a novel physiologically active agent.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a production method for producing a neuroprotective substance, produced by extracting an extract from Angelica shikokiana Makino. Particularly an acetylcholine esterase inhibition effect of Isoepoxypteryxin, &bgr-amyrin, &alpha-glutinol, Quercetin, Kaempferol-3-O-glucoside, or Kaempferol-3-O-rutinoside is utilized for a nerval protective agent and the like. And a cytotoxic preventive effect by active oxygen or &bgr-amyloid of extracts containing other extracts is utilized for a nerval protective agent and the like.
