The device is assembled of a hollow support bar (4), a set of spokes (2) and a transparent cover (1). The lower end of the pole (4) of the folded umbrella is pushed into the soil (8) and the folding mechanism (2, 3, 5) operated with a rotating lever (6) in order to pull the cover (1) into a concave shape. Rainwater is collected in the center and guided along the inner surface of the pole (4) to a valve (7) to be opened or closed as required. Several of the devices can be positioned in a chessboard pattern across a planted area.
