The invention relates to covering thin layers with photocatalytic and antimicrobial properties and to processes for treating inner and outer surfaces of motor vehicles in order to ensure hydrophilization, adherence, anti-misting, self-hygienizing, anti-dusting, self-cleaning properties and indirectly reducing the vehicle noxious emissions. The claimed layers are colourless, have nanometric or micrometric dimensions and are made of three basic materials: TiO, SiOand Ag in the following different combinations: SiO, TiO+SiO, TiO+Ag and TiO+SiO+Ag, said layers being possibly doped with nitrogen :N or with nitrogen and silver : N + Ag, the variation in the percentage of N ranging between 1...5% and the variation in the percentage of Ag between 1...3%. The claimed processes can be: treating the surfaces with non-polymerizable working gases Ar, Nor Oin open atmosphere by plasma jet blowing by OAPST method, depositing on the outer surface of the motor vehicle a layer of TiO: N, TiO: N +Ag, TiO+SiO: N or TiO+SiO: N + Ag by photocatalytical activity under the action of the solar radiation in the ultraviolet range, treating with plasma the outer surfaces of the motor vehicles by using the OAPST method, followed by the deposition of a resistant flexible colourless layer of SiOwith a thickness in the range of 1...100 nm/mu m in order to acquire hydrophobic properties or the deposition of TiOdoped with N in a ratio of 1...5% or TiOdoped with N+Ag with Ag in a ratio of 1...3% or TiO+ SiOdoped with N or N + Ag having N in a ratio of 1...5% and Ag in a ratio of 1...3%, respectively.Invenţia se referă la straturi subţiri de acoperire cu proprietăţi fotocatalitice şi antimicrobiene, şi la procedee de tratament al suprafeţelor interioare şi exterioare ale autovehiculelor, pentru a le asigura proprietăţi de hidrofilizare, aderenţă, antiaburire, autoigienizare, antiprăfuire, autocurăţare şi de reducere indirectă a noxelor auto.
