A method (M1) for the production of porous shaped bodies (I) involves mixing (A) an aqueous alginate solution with (B) calcium sulfate in presence of (C) mineral acid(s), then pouring the mixture into a mould and drying the mixture. Independent claims are also included for (1) porous shaped bodies obtained by this method (2) porous shaped bodies containing alginate, calcium sulfate and carboxymethylcellulose (3) a method (M2) for the production of layered products by cutting (I) (4) a method (M3) for the production of compressed moulded products by compressing (I) (5) porous bodies (I) in the form of a layer (6) laminates comprising at least one layer as above, laminated on at least one side with at least one other carrier layer； and (7) combinations containing (I) and at least one aqueous solution containing one or more active substances and/or auxiliary substances in a connected spatial arrangement.
