Apparatus for removing parasites from host fish comprises a plurality of parasite removing bristles 20, 22 which mechanically detach parasites from the body of a host fish and a suction arrangement 12, 14 to suck away any detached parasites adjacent the host fish in order to substantially prevent any such detached parasites from re-attaching to the host fish. The bristles may be mounted to first and second rollers. Parasite removal modules may be installed on a sweep net. A method of removing parasites from host fish is also provided.
