The present invention is directed to a method for straightening hair, wherein the method of straightening hair comprises the step of: (1) applying to the hair a hair treatment composition comprising: i) gluconolactone, in which the level of gluconolactone is from 1.5 to 5 wt % of the total hair treatment composition； and ii) citric acid, in which the level of citric acid is from 1 to 5 wt % of the total hair treatment composition； and (2) applying heat to the hair at a temperature of greater than 120° C. for at least 10 seconds after the hair treatment composition is applied to the hair, wherein the hair treatment composition is applied to dry hair.L'invention porte sur un procédé de défrisage des cheveux comprenant l'étape consistant à appliquer aux cheveux une composition de traitement des cheveux comprenant : i) au moins 0,8 pour cent en poids de la composition totale d'une lactone de sucre ； et ii) au moins 0,8 pour cent en poids de la composition totale d'un acide carboxylique bidentate ou tridentate ； le rapport de la lactone de sucre à l'acide étant de 1:5 à 5:1 ； et iii) chauffer la composition ainsi obtenue à une température supérieure à 20°C pendant au moins 10 secondes.
