The attachment device (1) has a plucking mechanism (8) for separating a maize cob from remaining components of maize plants. The plucking mechanism is provided with counter-rotating front and rear plucking rollers (9, 10). An overload clutch e.g. slip clutch, is arranged within a drive train of the plucking mechanism. The overload clutch is directly attached to each plucking roller. The overload clutch is arranged within a shaft that receives the plucking rollers, and an axial extension of the rollers. The rollers are provided with hollow cylindrical roller bodies.
