To provide a method of automatically determining an index quantifying a capacity for restoration of flow by opening of a stenosis.SOLUTION: The method comprises receiving a plurality of 2-D angiographic images 1810 of a vascular system, determining homologous features among blood vessels and constructing 1815 3-D vascular extents, and processing the images to automatically detect 2-D features, for example, paths along vascular extents, which are projected into 3-D to determine other vascular characteristics. Flow analysis 1820 with an arterial pressure along a noted segment is based on a vascular tree model and measurement of other available hemodynamics such as major arterial pressure and/or an amount of injected contrast medium.
