A liquid-absorbing layer (37) comprises a liquid-permeable or poorly liquid-permeable first carrier sheet (61), a liquid-permeable second carrier sheet (62), and a liquid-absorbable material that is interposed between the first and second carrier sheets (61, 62) and is fixed to at least one of the two carrier sheets (61, 62). The liquid-absorbable material contains highly water-absorbable polymer particles (60). The liquid-absorbing layer (37) has a center recessed part (70) that is located at the center part in a width dimension when observed in a lateral direction (X) and both-sides protruded parts (71) that are located at both sides of the center recessed part (70) when observed in the lateral direction (X), wherein the mass of the highly water-absorbable polymer particles (60) in each of the both-sides protruded parts (71) per unit area is higher than that in the center recessed part (70).
