PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gradient magnetic field coil device which can reduce noise without narrowing a space into which a subject is inserted for photographing.SOLUTION: A gradient magnetic field coil device has a gradient magnetic field coil 3 which generates a gradient magnetic field 13 in which magnetic field intensity is gradient, a flange and a closed loop 4. An internal wall of the closed loop 4 pressure-contacts with the external periphery of the gradient magnetic field coil over the whole periphery substantially. The gradient magnetic field coil 3 has a substantially-cylindrical shape, and the closed loop 4 has a substantially-flat plate shape, and is fixed to the substantially-cylindrical end of the gradient magnetic field coil 3. In the gradient magnetic field coil 3, a thickness at an end is thinner than a thickness at a center, and the closed loop 4 is fixed to the end of the gradient magnetic field coil 3. The gradient magnetic field coil 3 has a main coil for generating the gradient magnetic field 13 and a leakage magnetic field, and a shield coil for suppressing the leakage magnetic field.
