Cleansing compositions comprising, in a cosmetically acceptable carrier: at least one surfactant selected from an anionic surfactant, a cationic surfactant, an amphoteric surfactant, a non-ionic surfactant, and mixtures thereof； and at least one preservative mixture, where the preservative mixture is selected from the group of chloroxylenol and phenoxyisopropanol, undecylenic acid and formic acid, phenoxyisopropanol and piroctone olamine, phenoxyisopropanol and formic acid, sulfite(s) and hexetidine, ethyl lauroyl arginate and formic acid, ethyl lauroyl arginate and chloroxylenol, hexetidine and benzyl alcohol, hexetidine and chloroxylenol, hexetidine and piroctone olamine, hexetidine and chlorophenesin, hexetidine and formic acid and mixtures thereof. Also claimed is the use of at least one preservative mixture as defined above for preserving surfactant-containing cleaning compositions.
