A catheter having a catheter shaft that has a more uniform constructionthroughout itslength and is able to provide more than one deflection curvature. The cathetershaft includes aflexible outer tubular member, and a less flexible inner tubular memberextending through the outertubular member in a proximal section of the catheter shaft, wherein the innertubular member isafforded longitudinal movement relative to the outer tubular member. Thecatheter also includes atleast one puller wire extending through the inner tubular member to deflect adistal deflectionsection of the catheter shaft, wherein longitudinal movement of the innertubular member relativeto the outer tubular member enables an operator to select and set a deflectioncurvature of the distaldeflection section.
