PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cultivation method, capable of readily and inexpensively performing subsistence cultivation of vegetables or the like using an accessible material.SOLUTION: A water-absorbent and water-retentive material such as sawdust is stored in a container, a plant such as vegetable to be cultivated is put over it, a proper amount of water is put in the container, and a measure for preventing scattering of the water-absorbent and water-retentive material is applied onto the top surface as needed.
