An aromatic gas dispenser 24 is attachable to a food handling device 12, 72 such as a food or drink container or utensil. Ideally it receives 18 a replaceable cartridge 14 containing a volatile scent composition vented so as to allow the vapour to escape. The cartridge is ideally positioned so that it is proximate the users nose when the device is used. A collar 22 on the device could encircle the food handling device. Ideally it attaches to the container after manufacture and can be detached for reuse. The cartridge could include a foam reservoir impregnated with the composition where open cells in the foam allow the venting. The scent could match the contents or be unpleasant to deter consumption. The dispenser could be part of a bottle cap 50 releasing the scent prior to opening or only after. There could be a control mechanism to regulate the flow of vapour.
