PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for awakening a person during a REM sleep time zone without monitoring a sleep onset of the person.SOLUTION: The awakening method includes: a setup step of setting two times having prescribed time widths with respect to a target wake-up time； and a transmission step of transmitting a wake-up signal at the two times. The two times are a first time and a second time later than the first time. The awakening method is so configured as to transmit a first wake-up signal at the first time, and transmit a second wake-up signal at the second time.
