PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean the inside of a sterilization chamber 2 where is irradiated with an electron beam from an electron beam irradiation apparatus 6 installed on the outside.

SOLUTION: A container carrier 4 is arranged inside the sterilization chamber 2, a container 1 carried by the container carrier 4 is irradiated with the electron beam by the electron beam irradiation apparatus 6 from an opening 24a formed on the wall surface 24 of the sterilization chamber 2 and sterilization is performed. A closing means 26 with a shutter 28 and a cylinder 30 for moving the shutter 28 back and forth is provided on the inner side of the opening 24a. The shutter 28 is opened during a normal sterilization operation. When cleaning and sterilizing the inside of the sterilization chamber 2 before the operation, the opening 24a is closed by the shutter 28 and the window foil 20b of titanium or the like fitted to the irradiation window 20a of the electron beam irradiation apparatus 6 is protected.
