The eye having upper and lower lids extendable along an anterior eye surface with an optical zone therebetween. The insert comprising a first structure (32) comprising an annulus disposable along the anterior surface of the eye of a patient outside the optical zone； a second structure (34) supported by and disposed over a length of the first structure, wherein the second structure comprises at least a first cushioning structure around a first discrete portion and a second cushioning structure around a second discrete portion of the length of the first structure, respectively； and at least one drug included in a delivery matrix of the first cushioning structure and at least one drug included in a delivery matrix of the second cushioning structure so as release a safe and therapeutically effective quantity of the at least one drug from the first and second cushioning structures of the second structure to the eye for each of the plurality of days, and wherein the ocular insert is configured to activate after being inserted onto the anterior surface of the eye to reconfigure from an insertion configuration to a deployed configuration that conforms the first and second structures of the ocular insert to the anterior surface of the eye to maintain the ocular insert in contact with the eye for the plurality of days.
