A sanitary dressing for protecting a protruding portion of a catheter implanted into a patient body through a skin entry site is provided. The sanitary dressing comprises a sheath for receiving the catheter. The sheath comprises a first opening enabling the portion of the catheter protruding from a skin entry site to be received in the sheath, and a second opening fitted with a closing mechanism for gaining access to the protruding portion of the catheter. The sanitary dressing further comprises an adhesive layer for adhering the sanitary dressing to the patient skin.
