PURPOSE: A composition containing trisindoline is provided to prevent or treat cancer with excellent cytotoxicity to cancer cell line. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating cancer contains trisindoline as an active ingredient. The trisindoline has cytotoxicity to multidrug-resistant cancer cell line. A method for manufacturing the trisindoline comprises: a step of preparing cells containing nucleotide encoding indigo-producing oxygenase a step of culturing cells in a medium and a step of isolating trisindoline from the culture liquid. An indigo-producing oxygenase is derived from Rhodococcus sp. The indigo-producing oxygenase gene is ipoA gene. The IpoA gene is mutated to produce IpoA protein in which 58th, 59th, or 251th amino acid of sequence number 2 is substituted. The 58th alanine is substituted with serine.
