PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which deletes medical image data without using a specific protocol for deletion, in saving or communicating medical image data.SOLUTION: In an image management device, a transmission unit 170 transmits a medical image by using a predetermined communication protocol to an image storage communication system of medical images. A deletion candidate storage unit 172 stores an identifier of the medical image transmitted to the image storage communication system in association with deletion candidate information indicating whether the medical image is a deletion target. An extraction unit 174 refers to the deletion candidate information of the deletion candidate storage unit 172 to extract the identifier of the deletion target medical image. A transmission unit 170 transmits the transmission target medical image in association with the identifier extracted by the extraction unit 174.
