To provide an oil-in-water type cosmetic having good water resistance and dispersion stability and an excellent ultraviolet protection effect while having excellent freshness in use.SOLUTION: There is provided an oil-in-water type cosmetic which comprises a component (a): dimethylsilylated silica and/or trimethylsilylated silica, a component (b): a polyhydroxystearic acid and a component (c): dimethicodiethylbenzalmalonate. The component (a) preferably has an average particle diameter of 1 to 50 nm, and the content mass ratio (a)/(b) of the component (a) and the component (b) preferably is 0.1 to 200.
