The apparatus comprises a body having a first end (12) defining a fluid inlet port (26) and a second end (14) defining a fluid outlet port (22). A channel (18) through the body connects the fluid inlet port (26) and the fluid outlet port (22). At least one pusher member (30) extends radially from the body and contacts the sleeve (104) of the syringe assembly (100) during use to close the sleeve (104) and the syringe port (112).
