A processing system includes a moveable receptacle 5A and a one processing station having a support structure (15H) for receiving and supporting the receptacle. The receptacle is removably mountable to the support structure (15H). A transfer system, which is preferably a robotic arm 9, moves a processing device (7A) from a storage location to the receptacle. The processing device may be a heating, chilling, blending, cutting or mixing device. The processing device processes ingredients located within the receptacle before being removed from the receptacle by the transfer system. Also claimed is a receptacle comprising a mounting bracket (13) arranged for releasably engaging a support bracket； and a lifting bracket (17) arranged to be releasably engaged by a transfer system engagement tool. A further aspect relates to a processing device including a lid that may be releasably connected to the open end of a receptacle with at least one tool (43) located on the inner side of the lid and protruding therefrom, so that the tool will extend into the receptacle. The processing device has a mounting bracket (33) and a lifting bracket (37).
